It is incredible to think that in 3 months since 15 February we have raised such an amazing amount of money for Medical Aid for Libya.

Freedom for Libya Badges have sold out and stock has been replenished.

It is quite poignant to see the boxes of life-saving supplies all boxed up, ready for leaving to Malta. A team is on the ground in Malta, shipping all orders in an attempt to save lives and ease the suffering of the thousands in need in Libya. 

The total keeps rising and rising. Initially, on 17 February when we launched our latest project, our thoughts were that we would set a £20,000 target for crucial medical aid for Libya. That target seemed achievable but a long way off. 

The seriousness of the situation in Libya has been mirrored in the rush to donate to our cause.

Since our launch in March 2008 we have always encouraged and participated in recycling by donating clothing and household items to charity.

The trip to Nepal was most worthwhile and I have returned with thoughts and feelings deep-rooted within about the place, the people and Yusef's Library.

This event, organised by Jacqui Benmalek, is scheduled to go ahead on Sunday 25 April 2010, after being rained off in September 2009.

The above Further Education Grant initiative has proven very successful in its first year.

Following on from our Yusef Abubaker Memorial Eye Surgery Day last August in Sierra Leone, arranged through Sightsavers International, we opted to be part of a another Sightsavers project this year, namely a River Blindness project in Cameroon. 

Dundee Rotary Cyclathon on Sunday 13th September was a lovely day weatherwise.  

On Tuesday 15th we presented Dundee Villa Under 9's with their strips and watched them in training.

Following on from our news that we contributed £500 towards Farana Latif's physiotherapy placement to Zanzibar, Farana has thankfully not only returned safely but provided a report that is sure to encourage others to help in similar ways in the future.

On 2 February 2009 we entered into an agreement with Minhaj Foundation to provide 2 remote villages in Pakistan with motorised water pumps. 

Farana Latif, from Dundee, a final year physiotherapy student at Glasgow Caledonian University, is travelling to Zanzibar during the summer to work with the sick.  Farana will spend any spare time in the local orphanage helping the children there. 

The Big Fun Run has made the Yusef Abubaker Memorial Trust an official charity for the Dundee event.

The webpage set up in Yusef’s memory with the British Heart Foundation has now reached a truly amazing amount of £3339.46. 

Even the constant rain couldn't dampen the  mood on Saturday for the Tournament held in memory of Yusef. This is the second tournament organised by Colin Whittaker and it just seems to gather momentum. 

Remembering Yusef - The Blackness PS football team were presented with their new strips on 2 March. 

The weather was glorious for Jump day for Eoin, Haytham, Stewart, Darren and William as they fulfilled their promise to jump from an aeroplane at 10,000 ft in memory of Yusef. 

Total so far that has been received by me and banked is a whopping £2698.60!

Today I took part in my first live radio interview for Insight Radio, a radio station who works closely with RNIB and has an excellent working relationship with Sightsavers International.
