Alison and Abi Abubaker recently went to Harris to meet with the teams and staff and present the strips.
Mr Walker from Harris Academy's PE Department explained that "Traditionally Harris Academy has always had a strong rugby programme which offers training for S1-S6 pupilsas well as Saturday morning fixtures against other schools. This season there have regularly been over 35 boys involved in training on a Monday after school with up to 50 boys involved in games. Having the Yusef Abubaker Memorial Trust donate strips to the school has helped the pupils to feel a part of a team and the pupils are very proud to wear the strips. The pupils are all aware of the fantastic work that the Yusef Abubaker Memorial Trust does in the local community and most importantly want to be a part of preserving the memory of Yusef through sport".
Alison responded by saying that "The Yusef Abubaker Memorial Trust is proud to sposor the Harris Academy U14 and U16 rugby team strips. As well as education, our charity very much values the importance of sport, health and the wellbeing of pupils. We are proud to continue to support Harris Academy staff and pupils in delivering education and sport. Yusef would have been very supportive of this project".
